Behavioral Health Intervention Center (BHIC) offers DWI assessments and alcoholism counseling services in Charlotte, North Carolina. A DWI assessment is required for individuals convicted of a DWI charge in North Carolina to reinstate their driver's license. The assessment is conducted by licensed alcoholism counselors and helps determine the level of treatment needed for the offender.
BHIC follows the ASAM criteria, which provides guidelines for placement and treatment based on the severity of the substance abuse problem. The treatment levels at BHIC include:
1. Level 0.1: Alcohol Drug Education Traffic School (ADETS) - a 16-hour program recommended for first-time DWI offenders who meet specific criteria.
2. Level 1.0: Outpatient Treatment and Services - includes short-term (20-39 hours) and long-term (40-89 hours) outpatient programs based on the assessment results.
3. Level 2.0: Intensive Outpatient Treatment - a more advanced program consisting of a minimum of 90 hours of treatment over at least 90 days.
4. Level 3.0: Inpatient and Residential Treatment Services - residential treatment for a minimum of 90 days in a recovery or rehabilitation center.
5. Level 4.0: Medically Managed Intensive Inpatient Services - provides 24-hour nursing care and daily physician care for severe, unstable problems.
